Building Dreams in Kajiado: The Twajali Project at Ipolosat

In September 2025, a call from Sharon Mwende sparked a new story in Kenya’s heartland. Her organization, Twajali, had just acquired land in Ipolosat, Kajiado, to build a training center for marginalized youth. What began as a conversation over tilapia lunch soon became a partnership between Twajali and Camping Trackers — a collaboration built on trust, action, and purpose.

Vision Ignited – How the Twajali Project Took Shape

It began with a phone call and a lunch invitation. Sharon Mwende, founder of Twajali Organisation, wanted to discuss an education initiative that could empower young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Over a shared meal, she spoke passionately about her journey to Kanthari, India, where she’d learned how to lead NGOs effectively. Her return to Kenya was not just physical — it was spiritual, driven by purpose and newfound clarity.
Sharon revealed Twajali’s acquisition of a 10-acre parcel in Ipolosat, Kajiado, envisioned as a training center for 20 youth in a 21-day foundational program. She needed a partner to solve the crucial challenge of accommodation. When she shared her dream, I saw her conviction — and responded with faith: “I trust you, I believe in you. We will do it.” That simple statement marked the birth of the Twajali Camp.

When vision meets opportunity, you don’t wait — you build.

From Vision to Reality – Building the Twajali Camp

Soon after, our team embarked on a reconnaissance trip through Isinya into Kajiado. We paused for lunch at the familiar Shell Station before pushing deeper into the expansive plains. The journey unfolded like a scene from a dream — long stretches of untouched land meeting the endless sky. Thirty-eight kilometers later, standing on the 10-acre site, I turned to Sharon and said, “I can see your vision.” The land was bare, but the promise was visible.
That promise turned into action. Camping Trackers established a complete community camp for 20 youth: sleeping tents with comfortable beds, mess tents for shared meals, solar lighting, and clean shower and toilet setups. Twajali handled mobilization from Nairobi — we managed everything else. It was a partnership rooted in belief that when vision meets opportunity, the result is transformation.

The Camp Today – Dreams Standing Tall

Today, the Twajali Camp stands as a living symbol of progress. Twenty young people now sleep, learn, and dream under the Kajiado sky. Their voices echo with ambition, their laughter fills the open plains, and our tents — sturdy and steadfast — shelter their aspirations. This project is more than a camp; it’s proof that collaboration can turn dreams into foundations.

And while the Twajali Camp thrives, Camping Trackers continues its mission — to support visionaries, adventurers, and changemakers across Kenya. Whether you’re planning a corporate retreat, NGO field setup, or luxury expedition this December, we’ll craft your story under the stars.
